Ricotta cheese, optional | ¼ C |
Salt and Pepper | to taste |
Water | 1 ½ C |
Preparation
There’s no need to go out of your way just to satisfy your craving for Italian food tonight. It's so easy to make homemade tomato sauce, you'll (probably) never buy the stuff in the jar again.
Method

Heat the olive oil in a large pan, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds-1 minute or until fragrant.

Add the tomato paste, water, italian seasoning, bay leaf, and parmesan rind if using. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes.

Discard bay leaves. Stir in a splash of balsamic, salt and pepper, and ricotta cheese if using. Stir until ricotta is combined.

Stir with cooked pasta and top with fresh basil, fresh grated parmesan, and burrata cheese.
